Acorn Aluminium has successfully completed its contract to deliver a full façade package at Prologis Park, Green Lane, Hemel Hempstead, on time and to specification.
Forming part of a high-performing and sustainable industrial space, totalling more than 280,000ft2, the work was carried out for VolkerFitzpatrick, on behalf of logistics specialist, Prologis UK.
Acorn supplied and installed curtain walling, windows, doors, and brise soleil support systems including factory-fitted bracketry, on two of five industrial distribution units.

Delivered to a target EPC of A+ and BREEAM Outstanding rating, the fenestration includes Senior Architectural Systems’ SF52 curtain walling, SPW600 windows, and SPW501 commercial doors.
The SF52 curtain walling system offers a consistent slim 52mm sightline, delivering levels of thermal efficiency that exceed current building regulations. Suitable for both ground floor and high-rise applications, this flexible option is fully weather tested to CWCT and EN13830.
A highly cost-effective commercial window that achieves a BFRC A-rating, Senior’s 75mm SPW600 maximises thermal performance by blending the latest polyamide thermal-breaking technologies with additional thermal inserts.
Senior’s SPW501 commercial aluminium door system provides a light, bright, entrance to the building.
Ideal for heavy footfall areas, the thermally broken polyamide aluminium framing system is available in a standard or slimmer 58mm clip and flush mullion, offering additional design options. Various configurations are possible, including standard pivot and anti-finger-trap doors.
The curtain walling was manufactured by Acorn with factory fitted bracketry ready to accommodate brise soleil systems, which Acorn also supplied and fitted to the scheme.
All systems were supplied in RAL7016, with 6mm Antisun Green outer pane, argon cavity and 6mm Planitherm Low E internal pane, to achieve an overall U-value of 1.4W/m2K.
