Acorn Aluminium has further enhanced and extended its manufacturing capability with a six-figure investment in a second CNC and new double-head mitre saw.
Delivering significant efficiency gains, the new Elumatec DG104 Double Head Compound Saw allows us to cut and prep two bar lengths simultaneously as well as carrying out more complex cuts.
Introducing increased automation to profile cutting and machining, our new CNC, an Elumatec SBZ140 also utilises advanced profile scanning technology, to introduce new precision to positioning of cuts and routs, drawing data directly from CAD files and eliminating the requirement to input specifications manually.
It also means we can convert bar length into a fully prepped frame within seconds, increasing production capacity, reducing manufacturing times and allowing us to deliver a more flexible service to our customers.
Paul Stevens, Managing Director, Acorn Aluminium, said “The CNC and new double head mitre can pull in data directly from file, so they remove the risk of human error by by taking the person out of that transfer of information.
“It also allows us to plan more effectively increasing yield, while a wider restructure of the factory is allowing us to release increased space within the factory to increase our warehousing capacity.”
We moved to our new state-art-the-art 30,000 sq ft manufacturing capability at the end of 2019. Accompanied by major investment in the latest cutting and machining centres and CNC capabilities, with further investment this year, it gives us one of the most advanced dedicated architectural aluminium manufacturing facilities in the UK.
We work with leading architectural aluminium systems specialists including Senior Architectural Systems; Metal Technology Systems; and Kawneer; to supply high-performance aluminium windows and doors and curtain walling to the commercial sector.
This includes a commitment to work closely with main contractors and architects from project inception to completion including commercial aluminium design manufacturer and installation.
Paul added: “We’re committed to a programme of continuous investment. That includes the upskilling of our teams and refinement of processes as well as a programme of capital investment in machinery.
“It brings increased precision to cuts and routs, which not only builds capacity but has a disproportionate impact on improving product quality by reducing error and increasing accuracy.”
The new CNC and double head will be installed at our facility in the autumn.
