HG Construction has appointed Acorn Aluminium to deliver aluminium curtain walling and window systems for a new Purpose-Built Student Accommodation (PBSA) development at Bristol Road, Birmingham.
Designed by Corstorphine & Wright, the project will see Acorn design, supply and install over 4,000m² of glazed façades, coprising 600m² of curtain walling and 3,400m² of high-performance window systems. Works will commence on site in September 2025, with completion scheduled over a 36-week programme.

The façade design utilises Kawneer Company, Inc.’s AA 100 fully capped curtain walling, alongside the AA 720 and AA 720 HI+ window systems. Designed for energy efficiency and security, these systems meet PAS24 standards and achieve impressive performance criteria, including a U-value of 1.3 W/m²K and G-value of 0.4.
Windows will feature high-performance glazing selected to optimise acoustic control, solar performance and natural daylight. With a light transmission of 70% and enhanced acoustic properties, the specification was developed to mitigate noise from the busy Birmingham road network while delivering an optimal internal environment for residents.
All systems will be finished in RAL7003 – moss grey – providing a clean, modern aesthetic in keeping with the surrounding streetscape.
